During his military career, Levi served in nuclear security and Combat Arms, later working in the Air Force Gunsmith Shop performing precision repairs and modifications to military weapon systems. He contributed to defense programs including the GAU-5A Aircrew Self-Defense Weapon (ASDW) and participated in the evaluation of the SIG M18 prior to its adoption as the U.S. military’s standard sidearm.

Following military service, Levi transitioned into precision manufacturing roles and established a fully equipped machining and prototyping facility in 2024. As Founder and CEO, he provides hands-on leadership focused on precision, repeatability, and disciplined execution.

Manufacturing Philosophy

We believe quality is built into the process—not inspected in at the end. Our operations emphasize proper planning, controlled execution, and continuous improvement to ensure consistent results.

Where appropriate, we provide manufacturability feedback and production input based on machining experience. Feedback is provided from a manufacturing perspective and does not replace customer engineering or design authority.

Facility & Equipment

Manufacturing operations are conducted in a controlled, U.S.-based facility supporting prototype development, secondary operations, and low-volume production.

Current capabilities include CNC milling, wire EDM, manual milling and turning, and inspection tools maintained on a defined calibration schedule.

Growth & Responsibility

Thompson & Smith Industries is committed to deliberate, sustainable growth. Equipment and capability investments are driven by real production needs to ensure quality, accountability, and long-term reliability.
